Collective Meeting 9/30/13 - 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm

Newly elected officers for 2013-2014:

Logistics:
Note-taking for Collective meetings - rotating schedule among officers (Mary will make this)
Collective meetings will be monthly, but we will also meet next week or the week after to discuss ideas brought up in summer emails, faculty searches, etc.
Mary to send out whenisgood link for meeting times

Faculty Meetings:
Teresa to coordinate with the collective officers if unable to attend the faculty meeting

GSA Updates:
DPC funding to be determined at GSA meeting tonight, 9/30
Snacks bought with last year’s funding will be put in grad lounge tomorrow, 10/1
Jorge to send out list for grad lounge improvements, so we can get our requests in early
Food in the lounge - label and date it, throw it out after 1 week (Jorge to send out reminder in email about snacks)
Need an Alternate for GSA rep, possibly Mychal Odom, pending his availability

Funding:
Johnathan to email Luis Alvarez about departmental funding for the Collective for this year
DPC money from GSA to be determined tonight
Johnathan to ask Jamie about allocation of money (alcohol?)

Other Issues:
Mary to email Alvarez about holding a town hall in fall quarter
TAships in MMW - only 33% for fall quarter, department is making up the funds which impacts funding for all history grad students. 
Proposed bringing the issue to town hall meeting, coordinating plan with faculty, drafting an
open letter or petition to MMW program.

Online platform for Collective (wiki, wordpress) - need a way for us to post minutes and advertise meeting times, etc.
Nick to bring options for the next meeting for people to discuss

Professionalization workshops - want to continue this year, deciding on an ABD or professor who would be willing to organize and lead them (John Alaniz? Mark Hanna?)

Center for Humanities grants - new associate director Sarah McCullough, introduced at end of year reception - proposed asking her to speak to Collective about grants available
Social proposed for early in the quarter to meet and greet first year students
